Maps of the Whitsundays

The Whitsundays Islands are a lot further north than people often realise. These maps should help you get your bearings and find out exactly where this beautiful coastal location resides on the Queensland coast. Don't forget to check out the travel distances page too, it links to Google maps showing routes and travel times, handy if you are planning to self drive.

The Whitsunday area can be reached from the north or south via the Bruce Highway which runs through the nearby town of Proserpine. At Proserpine, Shute Harbor Road can be taken which leads east over Mount Julian and Mount Marlow, through Cannonvale and then directly into Airlie Beach. To access Airlie Beach from the north, turn off onto Gregory-Cannon Valley Road just before Myrtlevale - this road leads through Strathdickie and then joins up with Shute Harbor Road.
